Dear Colleagues,<\/p>\n

The Armenian Association of Gastroenterology, together with the European Helicobacter and Microbiota Study Group (EHMSG) and the European Association of Gastroenterology, Endoscopy and Nutrition, is organizing an international hybrid conference under the auspices of the United European Gastroenterology (UEG)<\/a> “Ten years with the United European Gastroenterology (UEG<\/a>). Armenia’s roadmap to European gastroenterology. It will take place on November 4-5, 2023 in Yerevan, in the meeting hall of Elite Plaza, and will also be broadcast online on the Zoom platform.<\/p>\n

Armenian Association of Gastroenterology became a national member society of UEG<\/a> in November 2013 and has since implemented successful collaborative projects with the focus on adapting guidelines; our young members have participated in various UEG<\/a> activities including clinical fellowships.<\/p>\n

Our mission is to integrate Armenian gastroenterology into European professional community and meet the high European standards of medical practice, research and education in the field of Gastroenterology in Armenia. Joining UEG<\/a> has given our society the opportunity to achieve this.<\/p>\n

This conference celebrates the 10th<\/sup> anniversary of UEG<\/a> membership of Armenian Association of Gastroenterology by showcasing the successful collaborations, discussing further opportunities to advance and the challenges and obstacles arising along the way.<\/p>\n

The conference is a unique opportunity to listen to the world-famous scientists of the field, who together with Armenian specialists will present the most current topics of gastroenterology.<\/p>\n

        Francis Megraud<\/h3>\r\n

        Dr Francis M\u00e9graud is Emeritus Professor of Bacteriology at the University of Bordeaux since
        \nSeptember 2018. He obtained the diploma of Pharmacist and Doctor of Medicine at the
        \nUniversity of Bordeaux. He was Head of the Laboratory of Bacteriology at Pellegrin Hospital,
        \nBordeaux, France until 2017 and he is a Member of INSERM U1312. He was Head of INSERM
        \nU853 from 2004 to 2015. He created the National Reference Center for Campylobacters &amp;amp;
        \nHelicobacters in France in 1993, which he headed until 2017 and is one of
        \nthe founding members and current Secretary of the European Helicobacter &amp;amp; Microbiota
        \nStudy Group.
        \nHis interest for Campylobacters &amp;amp; Helicobacter\u00a0pylori dates back to the early days after
        \nthe discovery of these bacteria. His main current interests are the role of H.\u00a0pylori in gastric
        \ncancer and antimicrobial resistance.

        Manik Gemilyan<\/h3>\r\n

        Manik Gemilyan, MD, MPH, PHD is Senior Lecturer at Department of Gastroenterology and
        \nHepatology at Yerevan State Medical University. Dr. Gemilyan received her MD degree from
        \nYerevan State Medical University and MPH degree from Emory University (Atlanta, GA, USA).
        \nShe is Secretary General of Armenian Association of Gastroenterology. Dr. Gemilyan was the
        \nfirst UEG National Societies Forum member to represent Armenia. In 2016 she was elected a
        \nmember of UEG Meeting of Members (formerly General Assembly). She has publications in
        \npeer-reviewed international journals as well as local journals. Dr. Gemilyan serves as
        \nConsultant to the Ministry of Health of Armenia on Internal Medicine since September 2018.<\/p>\n<\/div>

        Mirjana Rajilic-Stojanovic<\/h3>\r\n

        Dr Mirjana Rajili\u0107-Stojanovi\u0107 holds a cum laude PhD in the field of gut molecular ecology and is
        \nan expert for gut microbiota diversity. She works as an Associate Professor at University of
        \nBelgrade, at the Department for Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology. Dr Rajili\u0107
        \nStojanovi\u0107 is a trans-disciplinary researcher, teacher and entrepreneur. The research topics
        \ninclude development and application of molecular methods for studying gut microbiota;
        \nidentification of associations between microbiota diversity and (intestinal) diseases; microbial
        \ntaxonomy and systematics; development and evaluation of the interaction of functional foods
        \n(probiotics and prebiotics including polyphenols) with microbiota and health; use of medicinal

        Peter Malfertheiner<\/h3>\r\n

        Peter Malfertheiner is Professor of Medicine and Chairman of the Department of
        \nGastroenterology, Hepatology and Infectious Diseases at the Otto v. Guericke University of
        \nMagdeburg in Germany, an appointment he has held since 1995.
        \nHe received his MD from the University of Bologna, Italy in 1975, and gained subsequent
        \nmedical experience at the Regional Hospital of Bozen, Italy, and the University Hospital of Ulm,
        \nGermany (1978-1992), a Research Fellow at the Mayo Clinic GI Unit in Rochester, MN, USA.
        \nProfessor Malfertheiner has been Chairman of the UEGF (2004) and President of the UEGW
        \n2006 and of the Education Committee of the United European Gastroenterology Federation
        \n(UEGF). He is also the Editor of Digestive Diseases, Associate Editor of the American Journal of
        \nGastroenterology, and a member of the Editorial Boards of several other journals; the European
        \nJournal of Gastroenterology, Helicobacter, Digestive Surgery, and the International Journal of

        Theodore Rokkas <\/h3>\r\n

        Prof. Theodore Rokkas, MD, PhD (U.K.), FACG, AGAF, FEBGH, received his Doctor of Medicine
        \ndegree from Medical School Aristotelian University, Thessalinoki, Greece, in 1977, and Doctor
        \nof Philosophy (PhD) from United Medical Schools of Guy&#39;s, St. Thomas\u2019 and King\u2019s College
        \nHospitals, University of London, United Kingdom. He is Professor of Gastroenterology at
        \nEuropean University, Nicosia, Cyprus.
        \nHe is the Director of Gastroenterology clinic at \u2018Henry Dunant\u2019 Hospital Center, Athens, Greece.
        \nHis research interests include Helicobacter pylori infection and microbiota in benign and
        \nmalignant disease, large bowel polyps and cancer, oesophageal disease, inflammatory bowel
        \ndisease, meta-analyses, GI endoscopy. Prof. Rokkas is a member and past president (2002,<\/p>\n

        2015) of EHMSG. He has 150 full publications in peer reviewed international journals, and 150
        \npublications in Greek journals; he is a reviewer of manuscripts for various peer review journals.<\/p>\n<\/div>
